Glenn Harveston, the promoter of Prog Power USA declares his love for this disc: "AYREON MEETS THERION!"Well maybe Glenn was letting the whiskey talk once again but I sure understand where he is coming from. Completely unique symphonic metal debut from Greece self-described by the band as "electronic art metal". Keyboardist Thanasis Lightbridge is the mastermind behind this project. Dol Ammad is a blending of orchestral and space metal. Think Vangelis mixed with Therion, Ayreon and Sunblaze. In addition to the dominant keyboards the ensemble includes an 11 piece female/male choir, guitar, bass and drums. Noted drummer Alex Hozwarth (Rhapsody, Sieges Even) propells the music along at a sometimes frantic clip. This disc sounds HUGE courtesy of producers Sascha Paeth and Olaf Reitmeier. Highly recommended.
