MCXB case for Xbox arrives

mcxb_product_md.gif
Thanks to Packgrog who turned me onto this case., mine has just arrived. In fact it according to the vendor at X-MODS, it was the last one of this style. Seems the person who began it all has closed shop. You can see some details from a vendor here www.x-mods.co.nz/mcxb/ and the origin here www.o2xmodification.com.Ah Yes, just what I need, another PC style building project. Well, I actually had to jump on it, since I waited so long, the place ended up shutting down. heh, at least I got one albeit, the last. (and paid for it dearly!)

So far it's looking mighty slick on top of my HTPC Ahanix D.VINE 4 case

Although, I may swap this out for a different HTPC case that I've been eyeing up. One with front panel card reader which I think would be useful for those memory transfers to my PDA and camera.

Ah, the black double-DVD model. Nice! I so wish I could have grabbed one of the single DVD models. So nice.

I'm still curious about that D.Vine case. Money is still an issue for me right now, but the thought of being able to turn my current PC into a MythTV box to replace my ReplayTV (and that gradual money-sucking monthly fee) is pretty appealing. Dunno. We'll see if I get any sort of holiday bonus. *crosses fingers*

Actually, I got the single DVD model capable of 6 HDD's. I just put that pic up there for reference. Was a quick insert this am.

A few good points on the D.vine.
Standard ATX Mobo.
Power supply is mounted sideway.
This lets the underside fan also expel heat.
So right back by the CPU you have 2 60MM fans and then the 80MM power supply fan. Keeps the CPU nice and cool.

Then along with 2 HDD's and 2 exposed 5.25 bays. you have plenty of expandability. I have 2 of these. one in bedroom, one in living room.
Bedroom one is sort of a copier machine.
Works great.

Paxmate acoustic absorber along with Antec power supply makes it really quiet
